Each import specification table is a collection of data fields that are imported into the ERPToolsX project. These fields are often interrelated to another field in a separate table. For descriptions and placement of each field in the import files, field description pages exist. These pages are divided into three major sections as in Table Descriptions.
1.Field Information Section:
On the left side of the Field Description is the field information section. It contains:
•Name - This is the full name of the field in the ERPIMS database.
•Short Name - This is a common handle used to quickly describe the full name of the field.
•Length - This is the total length of the field.
•Data Type - This is one of four different value types.
✓Character - An alpha numeric field that will accept most any key stroke.
✓Number - A numeric entry which can only be 0-9.
✓Boolean - A Yes or No field, which has only one of two values.
✓Date - A date time field that only accepts numeric numbers for date or time.
•Decimals - If the field is a number that needs a decimal value, this information value will describe how many decimal places exist for that field. If the number does need a decimal, the decimal is expected in the field. By not including the decimal in the import file, an error will be returned by ERPToolsX.
•VVL Name - If the field is a value which comes from a Valid Value List, this information value will contain the VVL name used as the check for importing. Having an incorrect or non-vvl value in this location will result in the ERPTools system returning an error during validation.
2.General Information Section:
This section of the field description is all the relevant information about the contents of the field. Information covered usually describes the type of information that the field is describing, and details processes for why the information is needed.
3.Import Specifications Section:
This section is a list of all the Tables each field is requested in and their location in the import file. All fields that are required for the import process to be successful are indicated in bold fonts. This section contains the following information:
•Project Format - The import file format the field is describing.
•Tables Located - The Name of the Table where the field is located.
•Required - An indicator as to if the field is Required, Optional, or Conditional.
•Start - This is the location in the record where the first character is located.
•End - This is the location in the record where the last character is located.
By selecting the name of any table in the the import specification section, a page will be displayed outlining information about that table. More information about the table layout can be found in the Table Descriptions section.
