Processing Information with Environmental Resource Program Tools (ERPToolsX)

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The Environmental Resource Program Tools (ERPTools) is a relational database system that has been developed to assist environmental contractors with data entry and submission of ERPIMS data to AFCEC.  ERPTools is the recommended tool as it provides a relational database similar in structure to the ERPIMS data warehouse, and has been created to integrate seamlessly with the validation process of ERPIMS.  ERPToolsX has the look and feel of other Windows products, and allows for the import/export of data and data validation prior to submission to AFCEC.

If a submission is not in the proper ERPIMS data format or does not pass ERPIMS validation, it will not be processed and loaded into the ERPIMS data warehouse and will be returned for correction.  Until the data has been processed and loaded into the ERPIMS data warehouse the data will not be considered accepted by AFCEC.

ERPTools was created to enable both the prime contractor and any subsequent labs to enter, import, edit, validate, and transfer ERP data with ease, eliminating incorrectly formatted items or other common problems. A user can perform validation on tables without having long lead times prior to transfer either to Prime Contractors or AFCEC.

All files in the ERPTools Import process are simple text based (.txt) files that can be created by Notepad, WordPad, MS Word, and many other software applications.  These files are space allocated, which is to say that during the import process ERPToolsX looks for all content in the specified space of the line to determine the content to be imported into the ERPTools Project File.

The .txt files should contain only the records to be imported, with no headers or labels.  Additionally, there should be only one record per line.  If you place more then one record per line, the system will ignore all information after the predetermined location for that import specification, meaning that only one record will get imported and all others will be ignored.

This document was created to inform users of the correct import format needed to successfully import data into ERPToolsX.  Each of the Tables is laid out similarly so the user can quickly find information needed about the format of the import file.  For more information on the layout of the Table information please check the Table Description section.  For more information on the layout of the Field Information please check the Field Description section.
